Jessie J

Jessie J is known for her daring looks and striking features. The look look above was in Feb 2011, nearly a year a half ago. So why am I picking it? Why am I showing you it now?

The simple reason is; she is the perfect example of this seasons and next seasons trends. Bright lips and grunge eyes, ringing a bell?

The eyes are simple, dark eyes (she used liquid, but use kohl for a Marc Jacobs autumn eye). Liquid eyeliner around the eyes, and charcoal grey underneath, and across the lid. Heavy false eyelashes and your eyes are complete! (I will give a tutorial soon, hold on!)

The lips are simply a choice of what you pick up (bright, though!), keep skin clear.

(I would not recommend both the eyes and lips look together, Jessie can pull it off as she has such a strong face and style, the average person could not)

Do you want to know a secret?

You need to promise to keep this on the hush hush. This is for you, and me. No-one else, promise me, ok? Grunge kohl eyes are going to be the trend of Autumn/Winter! Don't worry, I know you're grimacing 'Stop wishing summer away! It's not even started yet!' I know, I know. But now is the time to start buying in eye-liner pencil (not gel or liquid, the flick is going, grunge pencil is here), and practising for the perfect I've-just-got-out-of-bed-and-I-don't-give-a-fuck look.

Bright lips.

As you can probably tell, I am more than excited for the summer break and all the great stuff that comes with it! Bright lips seem to be the 'in' thing of hipsters, with celebrities such as uber trendy Azealia Banks sporting the look. The stand-out look is simple. Firstly, ensure lips are super smooth, apply a lip balm the night before (and every night, in fact), and gently rub lips with a warm, damp flannel to get rid of dead skin cells. Before applying your favourite bright lippy, apply a think layer of concealer to your lips. This will neutralise the natural colour of your lips and ensure the result is true and really 'pops'. Wear this look with just concealer and foundation to hide blemishes and even skin tone, and a thin layer of mascara; let the lips to the talking! Is this look going to be the staple of summer? Tell me your thoughts below!

Plaits

Hot weather doesn't come often, so when it arrives you want to be out of the house and to the nearest park, bbq or beer garden as soon as possible. Which leaves you in a sticky situation when wanting your hair to look good, but for it to be still be easy, care free and fast. The plait is the perfect option!

A loose plait gives your hair an edge, while keeping it off your face to avoid sticky, sweaty fingers touching your skin!

1. This style is perfect on unwashed hair, it adds texture and a tousled look!
2. Blow dry your hair upside down  to add lift, and finish by gently teasing the roots.
3. Pull hair to side and begin plaiting your hair loosely.
4. Fasten with a bobble/hair band, and gently pull it apart for an even messier look!
5. Spray a little hair spray, and you're done!

Feathers

Unless you've been living under a bridge the past 6 months, you are sure to be aware that Summer 2012 is the summer of the festivals. With artists such as Marina & The Diamonds, Bombay Bicycle Club, Fleet Foxes, The Vaccines, Example, and many, many more talented acts touring the country, the whole nation is feeling the summer spirit, mini shorts and feathers filling every store and wardrobe. So what do you think, will you be trying out the feathered look?
